Counted Cross Stitch Kit
Collaboration with the Britan Museum
This cross stitch kit has been developed in collaboration with The British Museum, and allows you to recreate Katsushika Hokusais iconic The Great Wave in stitch. Transforming this iconic woodblock print into cross stitch will allow you to experience the artwork in a new way, adding luster and texture with Six-Strand Embroidery Floss. The print was originally published sometime between 1829 and 1933 in the late Edo period. It is the first print in Hokusai's series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji. The Great Wave has gone on to receive acclaim and popularity across the Western world. Katsushika Hokusai was a Japanese artist, ukiyo-e painter and printmaker. He is best known for his woodblock print series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji (c. 1831) which includes the internationally recognised The Great Wave off Kanagawa, created during the 1820s.
