A richly illustrated embroidery set inspired by the Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry — one of the most magnificent illuminated manuscripts of the 15th century. This set features the May page from the famous calendar cycle, filled with joyful courtly celebration.

About the artwork:
The May illustration depicts a springtime festival steeped in ancient tradition. Long before the Christian era, Europeans celebrated the return of greenery with music, dancing, and pageantry. Medieval French nobility continued the custom, donning special May liveries, riding in processions adorned with fresh leaves, and crowning a May King and Queen.

The upper part of the miniature features a celestial sky dome with zodiac signs — a signature feature of this manuscript's calendar pages.
